Beat the Heat with New HVAC

Epperson Inc. • Aug 03, 2023

July may be coming to a close, but that summer heat is nowhere near stopping! As Kentuckians know, that heat can extend well into the first few weeks of October. And if you find that your house isn’t cooling like it used to, or you’re worried that the winter cold will leave your home freezing, you might need a new HVAC system. Here at Epperson, Inc., we can introduce you to our line of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems and help with proper installation to keep your home comfortable all summer long.

When to Replace

Before getting a new HVAC, we first need to establish the tell-tale signs that it’s time to replace your current system. This often includes:

1: Age

It is recommended that you should replace your HVAC system after 10 to 15 years. Since the age requirement varies, be sure to check when yours was installed and ask one of our professionals to learn more about its lifespan!

2: Air Flow

Is your house not cooling or heating no matter how high you crank up the AC or thermostat? If the air coming into your home isn’t cooling, heating up, or even coming through the vents as strong as it used to, a new HVAC system may be in order. It could also be a simple blockage, which our team can resolve. However, if your system is near that 10 or 15-year mark, odd sounds are something to note.

3: Odd Noises

Healthy HVAC systems will make noises when powering up or down. However, if you head consistently loud bangs, thuds, grinding, whistling, or other odd sounds, it could be that part of the HVAC system is failing.

4: Bad Smells

Certain foul orders from your HVAC could be mold that can easily be cleaned out by our professionals. However, if you smell burning plastic, your HVAC system could be malfunctioning and needs attention immediately.

5: Working Overtime

Are your energy bills suddenly spiking? Malfunctioning HVAC systems often work harder than they should because you are cranking up the AC or heat to get comfortable. If your system is running at its highest ability all the time but provides the bare minimum of heating or cooling, it’s time to call us!
